Show Case of Musicians

Nicole Campos Villaran

Open Mic Night is a Mount hosted event at the PAC. This is where students can put on performances for one another and show off their musical talent.

This event is more than just opportunities for students to step out of their comfort zones. They are a chance to become part of a vibrant, supportive community.

Beverages and snacks are available for both the audience and the students performing. This is an event where students can perform their musical talents in ways such as singing and performing on an instrument.

One thing that was interesting was that there are also stand-up comedians. Open Mic Night isn't just for your singing talent but also for stand-up comedy.

This is a great event where everyone can show their raw talent. Seeing the positivity and support from everyone defines our Mount community.

There were some people who encouraged the audience to sing along. This is an example about how our mount community encourages one another.

This was good for the performers because it allows them to have a sense of comfort while performing. Another way that the audience showed support was through shining their flashlight.

The PAC also hosted a raffle, who doesn't love a raffle?

A variety of songs were performed, such as Mirrors by Justin Timberlake, Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi and Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift.

There was also a special guest, The Mount Music Society! It was shocking to see all the instrumental talent. The audience was amazed and wanted more. As we welcome the new class of 2028, we show how supportive and positive our community is.

Krina (C’28) stated in an interview, "I was part of Mount 101, and we did a mini karaoke night, but this is actually better because there are more people."

After the event, she will likely attend more Mount events and bring along her friends. More people started to show up later in the event. Even though we all have our shy moments, it's good to come out of our shells.

Andrew (C’28) stated in an interview, "I think it's super fun. I'm actually so glad I came because there was a performance of Hades Town, and I didn't think anyone would recognize that musical." As the interview was ending,

Andrew was planning to perform. His performance was amazing, and his enthusiasm brought life to the audience. He was very active and participated, as did his friends.

Even though some of us are new to the Mount community, we advise you to participate in these events. These events are not just about meeting new people, but also about having a great time and making long lasting friendships. I would strongly encourage everyone, especially first year students to attend!
