A group of Mount St. Mary’s University students traveled to Life Fest 2025 in Fairfax, Virginia, followed by the March for Life in Washington, D.C. The event, organized by the Center for Campus Ministry, brought students together with thousands of people who share the same support for the pro-life movement.

The day was focused not only on advocating for the unborn but also on celebrating the value of human life from the moment of conception.

Life Fest 2025, organized by the Sisters of Life and the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, set the stage for a day filled with reflection and prayer. The event included Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and live music, creating a strong atmosphere of faith and unity.

One of the highlights was the Mass, which was celebrated by many priests and four bishops, including Archbishop Lori. The stadium was packed, and many Mount students said the experience left them feeling spiritually uplifted and gave them a renewed sense of purpose as they prepared for the March.

After Life Fest, the group moved on to the March for Life. The event began with a rally where speakers shared powerful messages to inspire the crowd. Notable speakers included Vice President JD Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, and a prerecorded message from former President Donald Trump.

Each speaker encouraged the crowd to continue standing up for the unborn and to keep pushing for pro-life laws. Their words resonated with everyone, fueling the energy and passion of the crowd.

For some Mount students, this was their first time attending the March for Life, and their reactions showed how much of an impact the event had on them. Andrew Starvaggi (C.27) described the day as “spectacular,” saying it filled him with joy to see so many people of all ages and backgrounds standing together for the unborn. He called it one of the happiest days of his life, exclaiming, “Go, God! Go Love! Go Babies!” Kalina Chang (C.27) also shared how she felt a deep spiritual connection at the march. She enjoyed praying the Rosary and felt very close to Mary, the Mother of God, her love and support for the unborn.

Mr. Adinaro, the campus minister at the Center for Campus Ministry, shared why he wanted students to attend the March for Life. While he has always supported the pro-life movement, he previously felt that the march was too far away to attend, which he thought many students also believed. But since the Mount is so close to Washington, D.C., it gave students the chance to participate in this important event in just one day. Adinaro also thanked Dr. Joyce for his help in organizing the charter bus that made it easier for students to travel to the event.

In the end, the day’s events gave the students a strong sense of purpose and motivated them to keep supporting the pro-life cause. They felt empowered knowing their voices were part of a larger movement in Washington, D.C., and that they were united in the mission to protect life.
