Mount St. Mary's Professional Free Attire

The Career Center hosted a three-day pop-up shop from March 14 to 16 at McGowan Patio, Upper McGowan Lobby and Upper McGowan Patio. They provided free professional attire clothing for future internships and jobs.

The Mount Suits You started in the fall of 2019 and gave an opportunity for all undergraduate Mount students to get their professional outfit on campus. As many students were getting ready and planning for the Career Fair this pop-up shop allowed students access to professional attire free of charge with no stress. Students who attended and brought their résumés had the opportunity to receive reviews and tips. When students brought their résumés to the pop-up they were automatically entered in the air pod and air tag raffle.

According to Mount alumni, Jaquelyn Yiatrou (C’20) Junior Gift Advisor mentioned that “Maguire Scholar Brenna Delany came to me with the idea to do a service project of professional clothing drive.” Their main goal was to be a “resource for these students to have professional clothes.” This was a free resource and was here to help them.

About 75-100 students at the Mount have attended the Mount Suits You event and picked out clothes. Yiatrou commented that alumni, faculty, staff, parents and students donated clothes. It is an opportunity for the community to come together and help the students. The donated clothes included skirts, dresses, pants, blazers and ties.

Delany mentioned “how expensive it can be." Every student should have access to clothing that makes them feel confident and appropriate at their job opportunities.
