The Mount is offering many exciting upcoming study abroad opportunities for fall 2025.

Dr. Towle will be leading a trip to Florence, Italy. Both Dr. Gianoutsos and Dr. Jordan will be leading a trip to Dublin, Ireland.

A gift from a generous donor has allowed Clonmore House, located at St. Raphaela’s Convent, in Stillorgan, Ireland, to be renovated to house students. It includes recreation, kitchen, and classroom spaces. This trip will run every semester for three years.

The cost to go to Dublin is the same as a regular semester’s tuition, room and board at the Mount.

Instead of additional study abroad fees, students will only need to additionally pay for their passport and airfare. This will be an awesome and affordable way for students to study abroad.

The Florence trip costs about $1,200 more than tuition, room, and board regularly. Students are also responsible for covering their passport, airfare, and food while they are there.

While in Dublin and Florence, students will take a mix of cultural, core curriculum and certain online Mount classes. Most students enroll in only 12 credits to have plenty of time to explore all that these countries have to offer.

Ryen Sakyi (C’27) went on the Argentina trip this previous fall. She loved seeing how Argentina differed from the US, as well as all the different food the country had to offer. Sakyi stated, “I think everyone should do a study abroad to expand your horizons, to know that your world is bigger than the state of Maryland.”

When asked about the importance of studying abroad, Dr. Towle said, “It breaks all of us, students and faculty, out of our cultural predispositions. It gives us a chance to see a culture that does things a little bit differently, and I think that helps us to understand ourselves better.”

Towle also stated, “I really, really encourage students to do a study abroad if they can.”

Dr. Gianoutsos stated in an interview, “Studying abroad will not only change your perspective of the world, but change your perspective of yourself and the United States. Sometimes you don’t realize how particular you are until you compare with many others in the world.”

She added, “We hope a lot of Mount students plan for study abroad in their four years at the Mount."
