Mount St. Mary’s University awarded the Academic Circle of Excellence Alumni Hall of Fame Award to five Alumni. Along with this, Athletic Hall of Fame Awards were given to seven alumni at the Dillion Field House.
This is the first year that the university has combined award ceremonies. This allows there to be a whole weekend that celebrates that celebrates the many different accomplishments of our alumni not just through academics but through athleticism as well.
Starting in 2013, the university began to honor individuals with the Academic Circle of Excellence Award.
In addition to this, the university began presenting Athletic Hall of Fame awards in 1971. Both awards are presented to students who have shown true hard work and dedication representing the Mount.
This is not just about the accomplishments they had within their time at the Mount but what they have achieved outside of the university. This is an opportunity for their careers and athletic excellence to be recognized and awarded.
From this 2025 award ceremony of Academic Circle of Excellence the honorees were Mary Lueben Jackson (C’05), John Joseph Enzler (C’73), Karl Anthony Chimiak (C’80), Amy Struntz (C’97) and Jeffrey Link (C’99).
These honorees were part of many different aspects of the Mount such as the School of Science, Mathematics &technology, School of Education and School of Business.
For the Athletic Hall of Fame, the honorees were Kelly Nagle (C’06), Tom FitzSimons Jr. (C’11), Andrew Scalley (C’13), Sydney A. Henderson (C’13), Nicole Pagano (C’14) and Julian V. Norfleet (C’14).
Phil McGlade (C’70) was awarded the Hall of Fame’s Father John “Spike” Cogan Award.
Many of these awardees played sports such as lacrosse, track and field, basketball, and softball.
The 12 alumni have demonstrated exceptional skill, patience and diligence while representing the Mount. This commitment and determination have allowed them to succeed not just within their professional careers but within their athletic pursuits as well.
Congratulations to the 12 new members of the Hall of Fame!
