Mount this week hosted their annual Goat Yoga event at the PAC.
You do not have to know yoga to enjoy yoga. Yoga mats were available for those who wanted to participate. People have introduced animal yoga for those who are nervous but still want to participate.
Some people believe you must be flexible for yoga but that is misleading information. Anyone can do yoga if they wish to.
The goats that Meghan Delaughter brought were between the ages of five months and younger. One of the benefits of doing yoga with animals is that you can relax with them.
As Meghan stated in an interview, "It is definitely the animal therapy that everyone has their emotional support animal and very much allows you to kinda have that benefit of the animal connection. The goats are a lot of fun. They will start jumping and bucking, they like to jump on people, and it is just a lot of fun to have a little bit of character along with it. It is also nice where some people have never tried yoga before and they are a little hesitant because they do not want to have the wrong forms. This allows you to come in because no one is paying attention to what your form looks like but instead at the goats."
Meghan loved goats since she was nine and it was like love at first sight. Two of Meghan's daughters were raised with goats and share the same love of goats as their mother.
The yoga instructor Teri Kuharske has been teaching yoga for the past 20 years. As Tarri stated in an interview, “Doing yoga feels good, it is good for you, it is a better high for your body and your brain where you can not get anywhere else. It helps you deal with life. I love introducing people to yoga because usually they say they feel good after.”
Teri was demonstrating how to do some yoga poses and walked around if anyone needed help.
Yoga is great at relieving stress, better sleep and improves your balance. Many students in our Mount community loved this event. One of these students was Chiara Mazza (C’26) who was one of the people who were working at the event.
As Chiara Mazza(C’26) stated in an interview, “I love this event. I am working in it, and these goats are so cute! There are so many of them and everyone is so happy. We are all brought together by these goats and it is a really beautiful thing.”
This is an excellent event for those who want to come out of their shells but are shy about meeting new people. These animals help the new members of our community interact with those around them.
